Quick and easy Chanar Dalna or Paneer curry



This is a vegetarian(satvik) style of Bengali curry ie it has no onions or garlic...it contains no tomatoes as well.
I make this curry with paneer and potatoes....just like my kids like it. The other changes I made from the norm is I tried to keep it healthy, so no deep frying of the vegetables and paneer.



100 gms of paneer cubed, fresh if possible
2 small potatoes cubed
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 bay leaf
1 tsp turmeric powder
paste of ( 1" ginger, 2-3 green chilies and 1 tsp cumin seeds)
2-3 tbsp. of curd or yogurt
1 tsp chili powder or according to taste
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 tsp ghee
1/2 tsp of jaggery powder
Salt
3 tbsp. of mustard oil


Heat oil, add cumin seeds and bay leaf. Next add the cubed potatoes along with salt and turmeric. Cover and cook till almost cooked. Next add the ground paste, curd , chili powder and paneer. Fry this well. Next add some water to make a curry, garam masala, ghee  and  jaggery, Cover and simmer for 4-5 mins. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with roti or rice.
