Yum if I may say so! 😊 Goes very well with some daal and rice. The traditional ones are made without the addition of gourd and are deep fried. This is a healthier version.
2 tbsp rice
4 tbsp poppy seeds
2 tbsp fresh/frozen coconut or desiccated coconut
2-3 green chilies chopped
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
1 cup grated gourd( I used bottle gourd)
Salt to taste
Put the poppy seeds and rice in the small jar of a mixer ( preferably an Indian mixer), add just enough water to soak the rice and seeds. Soak for half hour and grind to a smooth paste.
Alternatively you can dry grind desiccated coconut and the poppy seeds in a spice/coffee grinder.
Mix in the remaining ingredients add water if required to make a thick batter.
Heat 1-2 tbsp of mustard oil in a non stick pan add small dollops of the mixture and pan fry till golden on both sides on a medium to low flame.
