Ever since I have moved back to the US and don't have the luxury of a cook, i am on the hunt for recipes that I can make in a jiffy. This recipe is so quick to put together! Its a very traditional Bengali recipe, the only modification I made was the addition of asparagus. A bati chorchori is a quick and healthy way of cooking. In olden days, people would mix all the ingredients in a bowl cover it and put it in a clay oven with low heat.
This goes best with white rice.
20 medium sized shrimp, cleaned and deveined
1 large onion, sliced
4-5 green chillies, sliced
A bunch of asparagus, chopped into long pieces
1/2 tsp turmeric pd
1 tsp chili pd
1/2 tsp cumin pd
1/2 tsp garam masala pd
Salt to taste
2-3 tbsp of mustard oil
Mix all the ingredients in a pan. Cover and cook on a medium to low flame for 15 mins. If you like your shrimp not so well done, you can add it in the last 5 mins.
Serve with rice.
