Kerala Prawn Curry




Most of my recipes are inspired by the original recipe and then tweaked to fit into my lifestyle here in the US with ingredients available here.

1 small onion, chopped
1 tsp mustard seeds
Curry leaves
1/2 can coconut milk
1/2 cup tamarind water
8-10 large prawns, deveined
1 tsp turmeric pd
1 tsp chili pd(if required)
1 tbsp oil
Salt

Masala:
Fry in 1 tsp oil for 8-10 mins, then grind to a paste the following
1 small onions
1 tbsp coriander seeds
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 tsp pepper
Curry leaves
3-4 red chilies
1/2”ginger
2-3 garlic pods

Heat oil, splutter mustard seeds, next add the onion and curry leaves.
Sauté for 2-3 mins then add the ground paste. Fry this for 3-4 mins.
Add the remaining ingredients. Cover and cook for 6-7 mins. Serve with rice
