Handi Kabab or Curried meat balls

 



A flavorful dish where minced chicken balls are cooked in a curry. 

Chicken marinade:

1 lb minced chicken 

1/4 cup minced onion

1 tsp minced garlic 

1 tsp minced ginger 

1 -2 green chilies chopped 

2 tbsp minced cilantro

Salt, pepper

1 tsp garam masala

Mix all of the above well and keep aside.

Curry:

2-3 tbsp oil 

1 brown cardamom 

1” cinnamon stick

2 tbsp  minced onion 

Make a Paste of:( 1/2 onion, 1 tomato, 2 garlic cloves, 1” ginger, 2-3 cloves, 2-3 cardamoms, 1” cinnamon)

Salt

1 tsp turmeric pd 

1 tsp chili pd 

2 tbsp yoghurt

1 tsp ghee

1/2 tsp garam masala pd 

Heat oil add the brown cardamom and cinnamon. Next add the minced onion and sauté till lightly golden. Add the ground paste, salt, turmeric and chili pd. Cover and cook for 10 mins on a medium to low flame, stirring occasionally. Now add 11/2cups of water. Once it starts simmering, make small lime sized meat balls of the chicken and gently immerse into the curry. Add the yoghurt, stir well.  Cover and cook for 15 mins on a low to medium flame. Add the garam masala pd and ghee , stir and mix in. Serve with rice, roti or a bread of your choice l.
