Split Pea Daal (Motor Daal mulo diye)

 



1 cup split pea daal( Motor Daal) soak in water for a couple of hours
1/2 cup chopped radishes
2 green chilies slit
1 tsp turmeric 
Salt
1/2 tsp sugar/jaggery
2 tbsp mustard oil/ghee or oil of your choice
1 tsp panchforon (A mix of cumin seeds, nigella seeds, mustard seeds, fennel seeds and fenugreek seeds)
1 tsp ginger minced 
2-3 red chilies 
2 tbsp chopped cilantro 

Pressure cook the daal for 2 whistles. Open and add the radishes, salt, turmeric and sugar. Cook till 2 more whistles. 
In a small pan heat the oil add panch foron, red chilies and ginger. Add this to the daal. Simmer the daal for 10 more mins on low flame along with cilantro and green chilies. Serve with rice.
