Cabbage Stirfry (Bengali style)

This is a simple home style Bengali recipe called Bandhakopir Ghonto or Cabbage Stirfry.
It is traditionally made without any onions or garlic but I added them both for a change.

3 tbsp mustard oil or ghee
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 red chili
2-3 cloves
2-3 cardamoms
1/2” cinnamon piece
1/4 cup minced onion
1/2 tsp garlic minced
1 tsp ginger minced
2 green chilies minced
2 potatoes cubed
1/4 cup frozen peas
1 tsp turmeric pd
1 tsp chili pd
1 tsp cumin pd
1/2 cabbage finely shredded
Coriander leaves or cilantro chopped for garnishing
Salt
1/2 tsp jaggery

Heat the oil or ghee, add cumin seeds, the red chili and whole spices. Next add the onions, potatoes, peas,ginger, garlic and green chilies. Fry for a few minutes. Next add the powdered spices, cabbage, salt and jaggery. Cover and cook till done. Garnish with cilantro.
